Root Beer Floats are easy, and getting the perfect one just takes a little bit of effort.

Components

  • Root Beer
  • Ice Cream (probably vanilla flavor is best, but go ahead and try scooperman)
  • Granulated Sugar

Assembly

  1. Refrigerate the root beer.
  2. Remove root beer from refrigeration temporarily and poor into measuring glass (like a 12oz plastic cup).
  3. Add a pinch of granulated sugar to the root beer. This allows the root beer to go flat.
  4. Return root beer to refrigerator for like twenty minutes.
  5. When you're ready, remove the root beer from the fridge and ice cream from the freezer (you should've kept this frozen).
  6. Scoop some ice cream into an appropriate container
  7. Slowly poor root beer over ice cream. Flat root beer doesn't foam as vigorously.
  8. (Optional) use a paddle straw to dissolve the ice cream into the root beer (this is apparently called a root beer freeze)
